Amanda Ali

I work in a meditative state, using art as a medium to understand perception beyond form, to explore and communicate the unspoken layers where thought and emotion arise. My mediums of choice are ink on paper (black and white dualism) and acrylic paint on canvas.I mix emotion with elements of human and nature, along with some recurring symbols. My art is mostly minimalistic line-work and textures that create movement and confusing dimensions, to be interpreted as the viewer's mind sees fit. Aside from it being my personal expression, it also serves as a mirror; it creates a portal into the viewer's unconscious.I touch on themes like the human condition, insanity, chaos vs order, pain and suffering, primal fears, challenging perception, the nature of existence, the essence of being, purpose, and emptiness.

Music

Since 2011, I've joined and formed bands playing genres ranging from Fusion, to Psychedelic Rock, to Metal.I eventually started my solo project "Hypnotic Bass Loops", where I utilize frequency, time, patterns, and harmony to visit a deeper spectrum of emotion and states of mind. I make music with a shamanic approach, layered loops you can delve into while contemplating your thoughts, using my bass, a looper, a mic, and some effect pedals. It’s all analog and created live.I'm also co-founder of "Hard Gelatinous Capsule كبسولة جيلاتينية صلبة", a Psychedelic guitar and bass duo based in Alexandria.
